Salary: £45,000- £55,000 per annum dependent on experience + benefits

Job summary

The focus of the Senior Manager, Programmes and Partnerships will be to extend the reach, impact and financial sustainability of MNM UK’s strategy to halve malaria in five years, contributing significantly to doubling our income, through harnessing our catalytic communications and advocacy programmes to drive new long-term partnerships.

Situated at the heart of the organisation, working between and through fundraising, advocacy and communications your role will be to identify, craft and develop the partnerships that enable MNM UK to create the international coalition required to accelerate action.

We are looking for an experienced candidate with a strong track record in partnership development, income generation and programmatic implementation, ideally with a background in public health.  You will lead the account management and business development of our programmes with foundations, institutions and global health companies globally - including day to day management of the organisation’s largest funder. This role works as part of our hugely effective fundraising and partnerships team which additionally focuses on corporate and philanthropic giving.

Key responsibilities 

Income generation

  • Work alongside the Director of Programmes and Partnerships and Head of Fundraising to enable MNM UK to expand its programmatic fundraising partnerships.
  • Proactively identify and activate partnership opportunities that deliver on our objectives – enabling the organisation to accelerate doubling our income in two years.
  • Produce detailed business cases to drive income generation and meet organisational priorities.
  • Drive forward a robust and sustainable pipeline of funding opportunities and initiatives designed to address malaria at scale, across institutional, foundations, global health companies and development partners.
  • Monitor, analyse and review relevant industry trends and developments, identifying networking opportunities where possible and keeping the pipeline updated.

Programme and Partnership Development

  • Develop insights into how current and prospective partners can most effectively work with MNM UK to advance our shared strategic objectives.
  • Identify priority potential partners to deepen our engagement in the global health space and help future-proof the organisation and build a sustainable pipeline.
  • Develop 360-degree partnership proposals which seek to maximise partner contributions towards our objectives – advocacy, communications and fundraising.
  • Work with health partners to identify and implement programmatic interventions, mechanisms and investments that will better help us achieve our ambitions.

Account Management

  • Manage excellent working relationships with key funding partnerships – in particular the organsiation’s principal donor.
  • Be responsible for all aspects of account management, ensuring that delivery is on track and working across the organisation to ensure engaging and effective regular reporting and impact evaluations.
  • Develop partner engagement plans that track interaction, insights and opportunities amongst leadership teams internally and externally.
  • Ensure partners receive a high standard of stewardship with ongoing potential for new opportunities and organic growth.
  • Provide exceptional communication, networking and influencing skills.

General Responsibilities

  • To work as part of an integrated fundraising and partnerships team contributing to the development of opportunities across all income streams and partnerships.
  • Be self-supporting in terms of administration, and as a member of a small staff team be willing to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the MNM UK office environment.
  • Represent the Fundraising team in appropriate project teams, meetings and other events.
  • To undertake any other reasonable additional duties as required by MNM UK.

Qualifications, skills and experience

Essential

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience securing and managing income generating partnerships that have achieved outstanding results within the development or commercial sector.
  • Have experience successfully identifying, researching and developing new business opportunities and maintaining a new business pipeline with evidence of wins towards £1m or above.
  • Have significant experience managing complex initiatives and cross-organisational projects, particularly working both internally and externally with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience of building strategic partnerships across a range of different organisations - from government to corporates to foundations.
  • Strong written communications skills with the ability to articular a clear value proposition and evidence of compelling proposals for foundations, institutions and global health companies.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, being able to confidently represent the charity to an external audience through a range of channels including through meetings and presentations.
  • Be a confident networker and relationship builder, with experience of managing relationships at all levels and successfully forging new relationships.
  • A robust understanding of global health and / or international development and the donor landscape.

Desirable

  • Experience in global health, potentially in the pharmaceutical or vector sector.
  • Experience of fundraising within global health or malaria.
  • A strong understanding of advocacy and communications and the role they play in development.
  • A good understanding of fundraising law and key trends in fundraising, philanthropy and corporate social responsibility.
  • A masters in a related field (e.g. international development, global health).
  • Experience using one of the CRM databases commonly used in the sector.
